pablo neruda
Biography: (Pseudonym of Neftalí Ricardo Reyes Basoalto; Parral, Chile, 1904-Santiago de Chile, 1973) Chilean poet. It began very early to write poetry, and in 1921 published The song of the festival, his first poem, with the pseudonym Pablo Neruda, in tribute to Czech poet Jan Neruda, a name that remained since then and that legalized in 1946. His mother died just one month later he was born, when his father, a railway employee, was installed in Temuco, where the young Pablo Neruda extended his early studies and met Gabriela Mistral. He also began working at a newspaper, until the sixteen years he moved to Santiago, where he published his first poems in the magazine Clarity. After publishing several books of poetry, in 1924 achieved international fame with Twenty love poems and a desperate song, a work which, together with Attempted men infinite distinguishes the first stage of its production poetic, brought by the transition from modernism to art forms influenced by creationism Vicente Huidobro. The economic problems led to undertake Pablo Neruda, in 1926, the consular career took him to reside in Burma, Ceylon, Java, Singapore, and between 1934 and 1938, in Spain, where he was related to Garcia Lorca, Aleixandre, Gerardo Diego and other components of the so-called Generation of 27, founded the Green Horse magazine for Poetry.
